Making Strides Against Domestic Violence

In Memory of Savannah Kinchen

In 2020, we lost a radiant soul when Savannah Kinchen’s life was tragically cut short due to domestic violence. Savannah was the embodiment of kindness and compassion, described by her friends as a graceful, hardworking, and joyous individual. Her warmth and loving spirit touched everyone who knew her, making her an irreplaceable ray of sunshine in the lives of those around her.

Savannah dedicated her life to supporting others, working closely with Bay Area Turning Point, a local domestic violence shelter, to make a difference in her community. Her commitment to helping those in need was a testament to her compassionate nature and her desire to make the world a better place.

To honor Savannah’s legacy and the incredible work she began, we established the Savannah Memorial 5K. Through this annual event, we continue her mission of raising awareness about domestic violence and providing support to those affected. By sharing Savannah’s story and rallying the community together, we hope to foster a supportive environment where victims can find hope, resources, and the strength to break free from the cycle of violence.

Why We Do What We Do…

In Texas, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced domestic violence. It is a widespread crisis that affects many lives, often hidden behind walls of silence and stigma. Our mission is to break down these barriers, providing victims with essential resources and support to help them escape and rebuild their lives.

In addition to partnering with Bay Area Turning Point, which offers critical shelter and services to survivors, we also support the Disciple Oaks Camp & Retreat. This church summer camp, which Savannah cherished during her childhood, is another vital aspect of our mission. The Savannah Memorial Scholarship Fund, ensures that every child has the opportunity to attend this camp without financial barriers.

Mission

Honoring Savannah’s memory, our annual 5K and community fundraising events raise funds to support survivors of domestic violence and the Savannah Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Vision

We envision a future where victims of domestic violence, equipped with awareness of available resources, courageously pursue independence without fear of judgment. In this future, our youth have unlimited opportunity to grow in their faith. Empowered by knowledge, our communities offer unwavering support to those in need.
